During my wildcard Saturday Stream, I came across Feist, a game that from the outside closely resembled a game called Badland. What I was really impressed with about this game was it's ability to teach you how to play by curating the game play in a way that forces you to learn. At the start of the game you can only move right. It gives you a sense of direction. Shortly after you're able to move left and right, but then you reach a rock that you must jump over. Before this, you couldn't jump. It simplified the controls this way. Later they uncover a new button that allows you to pick up items and throw them. The whole game is like this and it makes for a challengingly fun experience. Although my favorite part of this game is the boss battles. Check it out and let me know if you agree.
